JIDS

All of you are invited to a JIDS meeting at the Islamic Center of Maryland, at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 21^st, in which we will plan our events from May through J uly.  Please come and, if possible, bring some suggested programs for the upcoming JIDS dialogues.  ICM is located at 19411 Woodfield Road , Gaithersburg , MD 20879-4726 .  One topic I intend to raise will be to consider how JIDS can respond to protests like the one we witnessed this past week in Virginia, where the mere fact that an imam – any imam -- was going to address the Virginia House of Delegates generated outrage from concerned citizens (i.e., bigots).  Some of us are trying to take steps to address that protest right away, but we might want to consider how JIDS can most efficiently be mobilized going forward to nip this sort of public expression of bigotry in the bud.
